The Pluto Podcast

Created for Intro to Digital Media.

This is the Pluto Podcast, a podcast about spreading awareness and advocating for the rightful planet, Pluto. Hosted by Ethan and Aidan, two well-known planetary rights advocates, this show cover a wide array of Pluto-related topics. The Pluto Podcast also talks to subject matter experts and victims of the astronomical elite in its quest to reinstate Pluto as the largest planet.

In devising the Pluto Podcast, we first brainstormed podcast ideas and took some notes on initial ideas and what makes a good podcast.
Then, we decided on our final idea: a podcast about Pluto. We did a couple of test audio exercises as well. Then we had a lot of discussions about what exactly we would talk about, and created an outline.
We realized that we alone would not be able to effectively spread our message, so we reached out to a couple of fake planetary experts we knew for interviews.

In total, between our ramblings and interviews, we had over an hour of audio. We cut it down to about twelve minutes, then to about six minutes for the final submission. Adobe Audition was used to get rid of the mostly-incoherent and at times offensive rhetoric, as well as cut down a little on the background noise.

I learned how to use Adobe Audition. I learned how to edit the audio, bringing down noise and raising or lowering the volume and particular parts of the recording. I learned about different microphones and their use cases and a bit about how to conduct an interview. I also learned how to use the podcast studio and record the audio.
